Research Manager - Professional Services Firms

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Revenue Promotion and Product Innovation:

  • Be a leader on a high performing research team, supporting key client accounts including some of the world’s leading consulting and advisory firms
  • Act as an intermediary between our Clients and industry experts. The role is to understand gaps in the Client’s knowledge of an industry/product/service, conduct high level industry research on the market and identify players and more critically potential industry experts who we can connect our Client, screening/vetting experts in real time to ensure that they are able to add value to the client’s project, and deliver expertise in a timely manner to meet client deadlines.
  • Cross-sell additional products and services to our clients outside of our core phone consultation offering (including surveys, workshops, in-person meetings and bespoke long term engagements), partnering with Research, Sales, and Product teams to bring ideas to fruition 

Client Partnership & Membership Management:

  • Deliver world-class client service marked by high levels of responsiveness, accountability, accuracy, urgency, attention to detail, professionalism, follow-through, and enthusiasm
  • Build and maintain relationships with key users at client firms including senior level executives
  • Build loyalty by delivering meaningful consulting engagements to GLG’s primary asset, our Council Members – including executives and thought leaders across all industries
  • Engage and recruit new Council Members (most often by phone) to join our network for time sensitive consulting engagements 

Company-Wide Collaboration:

  • Work in teams on a daily basis while coaching and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Manage key strategic initiatives as requested by GLG leadership to drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Work in collaborative inter-office teams to grow and promote client relationships
  • Deliver multiple client projects on a consistent basis to contribute to commercial and operational team targets and drive business outcomes 

Compliance & Confidentiality:

  • Exercise flawless judgment around GLG’s policies and procedures for protecting the integrity of client engagements
  • Clearly communicate to clients and Council Members the integrity and value of GLG’s compliance platform
  • Implement GLG’s policies and procedures for protecting the integrity of client engagements and train new employees in those procedures
  • Suggest innovation around GLG’s compliance platform to improve experience for clients and/or experts, and work with compliance and product teams to execute

  • Strong interest in developing exceptional client service skills in a high-volume environment
  • Superior communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Appreciation for the role data and metrics play in growing a business successfully
  • Openness to close coaching and feedback
  • Insatiable desire to learn about new topics
  • Bachelors or higher degree from a top-tier university with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent work experience
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a client-facing role, or commensurate experience in consulting, executive recruiting, customer success or account management   
  • Demonstrated commitment, judgment, emotional maturity, and intensity, ideally in a fast-paced, multi-task-oriented environment
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading project-based teams
  • Proven track record in people management, talent development, training, phone based outreach, sales, or recruitment
  • Demonstrated client service and relationship management skills in EMEA region
