Job Summary

GLG, the world’s leading platform connecting professionals with insight, is seeking a Segment Leader for our EMEA Financial Services Client Solutions team in London.  

 

This is an exceptional opportunity for a client-centric professional to lead the team serving GLG Credit clients and accelerate growth in a key client segment.  The role will work alongside a strong management team in EMEA and coordinate with peers and senior management throughout GLG’s global enterprise.

 

The Segment Leader will cultivate and develop London based client-facing teams to achieve ambitious growth and commercial targets. They will drive change alongside GLG’s leadership to improve and innovate our product offering for Credit firms in EMEA, while deepening key client relationships for the firm.

 

The Segment Leader reports to the Head of Client Solutions (EMEA) and is part of the global extended leadership team. Along with other Segment Leaders will be responsible for improving current commercial best practices, as well as developing people capabilities and skills through coaching, feedback and motivation.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

 

Client & Commercial Leadership

  • Develop and grow key client account relationships by guiding coverage teams and leveraging GLG’s extensive platform in the pursuit of ambitious growth targets.
  • Lead a world-class client service team by example; set the highest standards of responsiveness, accuracy, insight, urgency and attention to detail for GLG Credit clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior level investment professionals at key firms.  Scale a client-centric focus across the EMEA Credit coverage team.
  • Effective prioritization of high opportunity/risk accounts by appropriate understanding of investment strategies and account health across the Credit segment
  • Track and prioritize Credit deal activity in EMEA and enable the Credit Solutions team to identify and deploy the highest quality insights and expert panels for end clients.
  • Capture constant and direct client feedback to improve existing offerings and to inform new products.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Compliance, Client Solutions and product teams to bring key initiatives to fruition.
  • Support New Business Development and Account Management teams as needed on key commercial opportunities and priorities.

 

 

 

Talent Development

  • Lead people development in the segment through regular 1x1s with direct reports, close coaching, training, and daily feedback.
  • Identify & define team hiring needs (i.e. demand for segment, make segment level hiring / budget recommendations, perform interviews, support decision making for BU)
  • Effective and inspirational communication of business unit priorities ensuring strong followership and high levels of motivation towards commercial goals.

 

Process & Operating Effectiveness

  • Identify business gaps, facilitate / support problem-solving sessions to identify root causes and potential corrective actions.
  • Proven relationship building with internal stakeholders exhibiting best-in-class professional conduct ensuring collaboration across business units.
  • Operate with complete autonomy in driving best practice service behaviours within the segment including proactive identification of opportunities.
  • Review and be on top of key leading and lagging indicators (i.e. market share, revenue, contract value) for segment’s book of business. Support Senior Leadership with Client Solutions wide initiatives, communication, and priorities by contributing to brainstorming, strategy discussions, testing, implementation, and measuring effectiveness as requested
  • Serve as a Client Solutions stakeholder for broader GLG initiatives and thought partner to Sales and other BU leaders regionally and functionally (eg global Credit teams)

 

Planning and Strategy

  • Effectively time manage and prioritise projects with no oversight, raising issues thoughtfully with potential solutions.
  • Ability to think strategically about accounts and workflows in order to improve client experience and/or efficiency.

 

Compliance

  • Mastering the GLG compliance framework
  • Modelling best-in-class judgement and cultivating a compliance culture within the team
  • Presenting solutions to compliance issues

 

The ideal candidate will have the following:                        

  • 10 -15 years’ experience in client service, preferably Credit end market in EMEA
  • Demonstrable commercial impact and ability to grow relationships
  • Understanding of financial services, Credit preferable. Interest in working across other FS sectors (e.g. Private Equity, Public Equity) a plus
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate a team of client service professionals
  • Successful track record of working in fast-paced, client-service environment
  • Passion for problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Outstanding communication skills
