Strategic Solutions Manager, Financial Services

GLG is seeking a manager to join our Strategic Solutions business’s Financial Services team to help sustain and accelerate the business line’s growth. The Manager role offers broad exposure to client development, strategy development, project management, and implementation in a highly entrepreneurial environment.

The Strategic Solutions - Projects team offers a unique alternative to traditional management consulting, by offering differentiated support and innovative insights, leveraging the world’s leading platform of experts to build flexible, tailored, and timely solutions for clients. GLG Projects’ team helps investors, business leaders and entrepreneurs solve some of their most complex business challenges by combining the problem-solving and management skills of top-tier independent consultants and the real-life experience of industry experts, with GLG’s internal team of former management consultants. The Financial Services (FS) Projects team works with financial institutions to support them throughout their entire investment lifecycle (from early stage diligence all the way through value creation for their portfolio companies).

  • Our team plays multiple roles:
    • The Manager role offers exposure to a broad range of functional responsibilities, including product development, capital allocation, sales, marketing, and operations.
    • The role also provides regular exposure to the full GLG senior management team and broader organization, and unlimited opportunities to build strong relationships with our clients.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Project Execution

  • Drive project execution from scoping to delivery including:
    • Project scoping and design
    • Proposal development and client alignment
    • Project team prep and resourcing
    • Internal GLG stakeholder management and problem solving
    • Project management and deliverable quality control
    • Managing client interactions including check-ins and project readouts
  • Managers are expected to be solution and results oriented – effectively solving issues as they arise autonomously

Commercial and business development

  • All aspects of deal development and closing
  • Lead internal and external Projects business development initiatives, and contribute to growing GLG Projects business
  • Regularly pitch and conduct potential project intakes (virtual and in-person)
  • Proactive, content-driven engagement with high priority clients
  • Maintaining a detailed knowledge/understanding of clients’ portfolio and investment philosophy
  • Develop and maintain strong internal relationships with various GLG teams

Internal initiatives and team leadership

  • Leading internal initiatives including go-to-market strategy, systems/process improvement, product refinement/improvement, and professional development
  • Be a contributor to the culture and development of the team
  • Coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 3 years of management consulting or financial services experience
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong interest in Private Equity market and transactions
  • Entrepreneurial zeal and comfort in an evolving environment
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office
  • Strong interest in leading negotiations and closing deals
  • Team player
  • Direct Private Equity diligence experience is highly preferred
  • Strong constant attention to detail
