GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group, Inc.) today announced that Anshul Thakral has joined the firm as General Manager of its global life sciences business. GLG is the world’s largest membership for professional learning and expertise, providing clients across fields the targeted connections they need to learn, make decisions, and grow.

Thakral will guide GLG’s relationships and growth opportunities within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and healthcare service sectors. GLG Life Sciences works with a broad range of clients – from venture backed start-ups working on developing specific assets to top ten pharma companies and device firms looking to expand their global footprint, and everything in between.

“Our mission is to transform the way the world’s top professionals share expertise and learn, and Anshul will help us fulfill that mission in this dynamic and growing sector,” said GLG President and CEO Alexander Saint-Amand. “We’re proud to have him on our team.”

Thakral joins GLG’s global Life Sciences division with broad experience in management consulting and entrepreneurial healthcare ventures. He previously worked at McKinsey & Company, where he was an Associate Principal in the healthcare practice, counseling senior management and CEOs of global pharma and medical device companies on critical topics including growth, strategy, business development, go-to-market approach, commercial models, and product launches.

“Anshul brings to GLG Life Sciences important experience and an abiding commitment to learning and mentorship,” said John Donoghue, GLG Head of New Markets, to whom Thakral will report. “His background and his passion will help GLG deliver excellent learning experiences for our Life Sciences clients and drive our business forward.”

Thakral received his undergraduate and masters degrees in biomedical engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is a Co-Founder and serves on the Board of Directors of the Newark Mentoring Movement.

“There is a unique opportunity to deepen and broaden the work we do in the complex and changing life sciences business. GLG helps clients realize better outcomes – and pursue the most interesting and important scientific and medical discoveries that will change lives,” Thakral said. “That’s why I joined GLG.”
