Focus Area: Supporting Local Journalism

Cristi Hegranes is the founder and CEO of Global Press and the publisher of Global Press Journal. Previously, she was a journalist for Village Voice Media and served as a fellow-in-residence at the Poynter Institute. Cristi has taught courses in journalism and entrepreneurship and was the social entrepreneur-in-residence at the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from NYU and a bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Global Press trains and employs women in developing media markets to be ethical investigative journalists. Local reporters work within a robust editorial structure to produce integrity-rich, accurate journalism and all stories are published in the reporter’s local language, and in English, to serve local and global readers.
