Sherry Lachman is founder and executive director of Foster America. She previously served as domestic policy advisor to Vice President Joe Biden, senior policy advisor at the Department of Education, and senior education counsel to Senator Al Franken. She was also an attorney at the Juvenile Law Center. Sherry is a fellow in the Halcyon Incubator and the Taubman Center at the Harvard Kennedy School and a Draper Richards Kaplan Entrepreneur. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a JD from Columbia, and a master’s in public policy from Harvard.

Foster America creates a pipeline of leaders and innovators to transform the child welfare system. Their fellowship recruits and supports professionals with skills in data, technology, marketing design, strategy, and finance to lead reform projects that create impactful change in child welfare.
