Market Assessment

Client Challenge

An emerging biotech wanted to conduct a rapid qualitative review of an acquisition target’s pipeline of 5 therapies for rare indications.

Team

To address the client challenge, Strategic Projects engaged an experienced biotech venture investor and several prominent KOLs.

Research Approach

Project leader conducted 10 interviews with international KOLs over the course a week to gather insights on unmet needs in these conditions, attractiveness of the programs, and red flags for development hurdles, and synthesize findings with a go/no-go recommendation.


Findings

Two of the programs had significant risks associated with development, safety and likely utilization. KOLs were also aware of, and excited about, competing development programs for two indications.


Impact

Client leadership was able to quickly pass on the opportunity without conducting an expensive deep diligence, and instead continue to focus on scouting efforts.


Follow Up

Client leadership team continues to leverage GLG’s rapid research capabilities on BD and product development initiatives.
